We need to post this also. We need nominations for this area!!

Greetings to all Region 11!

The AANP Board of Directors met this weekend in Washington DC. This is an exciting time to be an NP! As you know, AANP has been involved at many levels of discussions at the federal level involving NPs in the healthcare reform discussions and changes legislatively. The AANP leadership has been invited to the White House 12 times in the past year. We are also working collaboratively with other nursing/healthcare organizations. Nursing needs to work together to present a united front legislatively and to the public so that NP practice will be fully utilized.

I hope that you have each seen the Institute of Medicine (IOM) report. This is a very positive step forward for NPs and advanced practice nurses!

As of today, there are no nominations for the state award of excellence for NP or NP Advocate from any of our states in Region 11. The deadline for submission is NOVEMBER 15!! I know we have amazing NPs and advocates in each of our states. Anyone (member or nonmember) can nominate. Please access the AANP.org web site and submit those nominations!

I appreciate what each and every one of you do each and every day for your patients! Keep up the good work.

Cindy Cooke NP-C, FAANP
